ALTERNATIVE CARE

The Alternative Care Trainer / Coordinator is a permanent full-time, professional position. The Alternative Care Trainer / Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination, training, and supportive services to CCP alternative care workers.  The Alternative Care Trainer / Coordinator will provide WFS philosophy and MCYS guided training to support the alternative care homes in the Rainy River District. 

The Alternative Care Trainer / Coordinator will work within a culturally competent system of care and as such will acknowledge and incorporate, at all levels, the importance of culture, the expansion of cultural knowledge, and the overall vision of Weechi-It-Te-Win Family Services. 

AGENCY BASED - ALTERNATIVE CARE HOME RECRUITMENT

  • recruits families in the Rainy Lake First Nation, Fort Frances and other communities to meet the needs of WFS for emergency, short term and long term placement of children in need of alternative foster care;  
  • will create alternative caregiver data analysis, identify caregiver homes by community with statistical analysis of various outcome measures

ALTERNATIAVE CARE HOME ESTABLISHMENT

  • advertises and recruits alternative care homes that are not apart of FN CCP territory;
  • conducts and reports home studies of caregiver applicants; recommends approval of caregiver homes; reviews these specific care homes annually and recommends renewal of approvals; reviews these specific care homes at the request of the team;
  • performs all case related reporting requirements for these homes in a timely manner:  ie: PRIDE, SAFE, OnLAC, and other required reporting material
