Celebrating 20 Years of Service

Weechi-it-te-win unique service delivery model is etched into every service delivery program and is depicted in this illustration.

Weechi-it-te-win recognizes that the Anishinabe people exist in a bicultural environment and that cultural change processes have impacted most areas of our lives and relationships. In our efforts to provide culturally competent services, we have had to take account of the influences of the larger society and the extent of acculturation among our people. Some of our people have been acculturated to the extent that they naturally seek help from accredited professionals and contemporary clinical interventions. On the other hand, many of our people continue to look to their traditions and heritage to find meaning and guidance in their lives. Elders and Native Healers are sought out to help them deal with problems and to find balance in their lives. Traditional gatherings and ceremonies remain important supports that allow individuals to heal themselves and experience a sense of belonging and identity within their culture and community.
