Lori Flinders is Anishinabikwe from Couchiching First Nation and member of the Lynx Clan. She is the proud mother of two beautiful daughters and has raised six other children through traditional and contemporary Customary Care. Lori has been with Weechi-it-te-win Family Services since 1999 where she was first employed as a Residential Counsellor at the WFS Training and Learning Centre. During her tenure at WFS Lori has worked in both the clinical and protection streams and prior to become the Director of Nanaadawewinan was the Agency Based Staff Trainer. Lori retains her Provincial certification as a master trainer and assists other Aboriginal agencies to develop sessional trainers. Lori is an experienced presenter who has worked diligently to promote Anishinabe best practice on a Provincial, National, and International level.
What does the Director of Nanaadawewinan do?
The Director of Nanaadawewinan is responsible for the continuing development of Community Care Programs and for maintaining continuing and effective liaison with each of the communities of the First Nations of the Fort Frances Tribal Area. The Director of Nanaadawewinan directs and supervises the staff of specific non-mandated programs, non-residential programs, the WFS Training and Learning Centre and the Treatment Foster Care program.
The philosophy of this team is consistent with Naaniigan Abinooji however; the principle of healing, treatment and support services is the focus of this team’s service delivery. Programs that fall under the Nanaadawewinan stream include:
